Based in Ottawa, Tallysman Wireless is a leading supplier of enhanced Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) antennas for use on multi-constellational receivers for precision location, navigation, and timing applications, including Globalstar® and Iridium® Satcom Systems.

Tallysman Wireless also specializes in asset tracking applications that range from underground mines and student tracking (using RFID), to vehicle activity management (using GNSS). We develop and sell the software and hardware systems for provision of end-to-end asset tracking over a variety of two way radio systems, including Motorola MOTOTRBO, Kenwood NEXEDGE and Tait MPT1327 and DMR radio systems.

RF Engineer – New Product Introduction

Tallysman® is an Ottawa based producer of products and components for Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). These include RF and high-performance antennas, and intelligent location based wireless infrastructure solutions for tracking systems.

Tallysman is looking for a highly motivated NPI engineer with at least a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a strong interest in RF. Reporting to the Director of GNSS Engineering, the job will encompass all aspects of new product introduction including Design for Manufacturing, test system development, qualification and production support for high performance L-Band antenna products. These will be comprised of Low Noise Amplifiers and advanced GNSS antennas in the 1GHz-5GHz frequency range.

It would be very advantageous for the applicant to have practical experience with RF instrumentation such as Network analyzers, and the IEEE488 instrument bus. We don’t expect experience exactly aligned with this specialized job requirements, but it will be important that the successful candidate have a strong interest in this field, be pragmatic, practical, have a can-do attitude, and excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate NPI activities across departments.

Duties:

  • Work closely with antenna and RF design and test engineers to ensure design for manufacturing is included in product development
  • Conceive, plan and implement automated antenna test and measurement systems that might include instruments such as spectrum analyzers and vector network analyzers in a computer-controlled system.
  • Document test and assembly procedures based on product specifications, with means to serialize tested devices identified by bar codes labels,
  • Participate in New Product Introduction through characterization, product qualification and failure analysis.
  • Define and implement production build methods, including in-line test requirements
  • Provide technical support to Supply Chain Management/Production team for BOM’s, documentation, and training for new product assembly and test.

Skills/Capabilities:

  • Experienced and knowledgeable in RF engineering at a detailed level.
  • Knowledgeable with instrumentation including VNA’s, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers. Knowledgeable with respect to remote instrumentation control and measurement using the IEEE481 bus.
  • Self-sufficient, practical engineer with a “get things done” attitude
  • Solid organizational and documentation skills.
  • Good communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, works well in a team environment capable of supportive interaction with production.
  • Some familiarity with circuit simulators would be an advantage

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Two or more years of design/product/test engineering experience

.NET/Azure Software Developer

Tallysman Wireless is looking for a highly motivated software developer with a minimum of a Bachelors’ degree and a strong interest in developing cloud based application using .NET and Azure technologies.

The successful candidate will have a strong interest in this field, be pragmatic, practical, self-sufficient,  possess strong analytical skills, be able to adapt to new technologies quickly,  have a can-do attitude, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Duties
You will be responsible for developing a new cloud based application using .NET and Azure technologies. You will be working on a small team and will be handling full stack development.

Skills/Capabilities:

  • Experience with front end development (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, MVVM libraries).
  • Experience with ASP.NET Core.
  • Experience with Azure services and tools (Azure DevOps, Service Fabric, Cosmos DB).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Works well in a small team.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience as a software developer.
  • At least 3 years of experience in .NET and C#.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure development and cloud computing.
  • Managing and querying large datasets using NoSQL.
